Jackson Firefighters Association Texas Hold-Em Poker Tournament Scheduled for April 18, 2009

The Jackson Firefighters Association will once again host a Texas Hold-Em poker tournament.  The Texas Hold-Em poker tournament will be held on Saturday April 18, 2009 at the St. George Serbian Center located at 4667 Applegrove St NW, North Canton, OH 44720.  Doors will open at 6:00PM and the poker tournament starts at 7:00PM.  Once again, there will be free food and pop with $1.00 beers.  If you have been to one of the Jackson Firefighters Texas Hold-Em poker tournaments before, you know it is always a good time.

The buy in for this event is $50 with one re-buy allowed.  The poster for this event is available at the link below.

    I am curious about the legality of running such a tournament. Is a license or permit required? Is there a state or federal exemption available that permits such tournaments for charity? Thanks for your reply.

    Can you provide any more details about the actual tournament?

    How many chips to start?
    How much are the initial blinds?
    How often do they increase?
    What % of the buy-in goes to the Jackson Firefighters?

    I contacted out Poker Tournament coordinator and requested the information to answer your questions. The information you requested is listed below.

    $5000 in chips to start

    rebuy is $30 for $5000 in chips
    $50 for $10000 in chips (you did not request this, but he gave me the information to post)

    initial blinds are 1 and 200 and increase every 20 minutes

    slightly less than 50% of buy-in goes to the Jackson Firefighters Association as more than 50% goes to payouts.
